THE SWRHA COMPETITION

Picture
One of the great things about the SWRHA, is that any individual can compete in the competition on their SWRHA eligible horse, without the need to become a SWRHA member....although we always welcome new membership!  Please visit the
PROSPECT NOMINATIONS & ELIGIBILITY page for more details and to see how you can make your prospects eligible for SWRHA competition.

SWRHA nominated horses are eligible to compete once as three year olds in the Novice Horse Division and once again in the Open Horse Division, but not more than 2 years after competing in the Novice Horse Division.  Please visit the COMPETITION ELEMENTS page for full details.  Here's a chance to win money twice with the same horse!!!  Not many other futurity/maturity programs offer that kind of incentive.

We are pleased to announce that the 2011 Competition will be held in conjunction with the Wheat City Stampede at Brandon, Manitoba's Keystone Center.  The competition date is Friday, October 21st starting at 9 am.
**Please visit the COMPETITION ELEMENTS page for details.
**Order of go will be drawn and posted on show day.
**Competitors-please visit the MRCA/Wheat City Stampede website for more important information.

More photos from past competitions will be added as well as 2011 competition photos.

The Hagan Valley Ranch 60 Day Challenge was developed by Thomas Hagan and Felicity Scott three years ago to promote local horse trainers and local horse breeders alike.  The idea behind the competition is simple;  we take seven of the best local colt starters and allow them to pick from seven of the best locally raised two year old owned by the Southwest Ranch Horse Association members.  The trainers have around 75 days with the horses allowing them to get 60 days of training on them with days off in between.  The colt and trainer then compete in our competition at the Rocking W Fall Horse Sale for all to see.   The competition is a basic reining pattern with a freestyle category at the end for the trainers to showcase any different techniques their horse can do apart from what has already been shown.  After the competition, all the horses will be up for auction at the Rocking W Fall Horse sale.  So for people wanting to buy a well started prospect, this is a great opportunity to buy one of the best.

**It's almost time for the Hagan Valley Ranch 60 Day Challenge**

Below are the 2011 trainers (in alphabetical order) and their colts.  A huge THANK YOU to Tamara Dyck of
Lonsum D Photography (also one of the trainers!) for the photography of the 2011 selections at the Spring Rocking W Horse Sale.  The competition will run on September 2nd at the Keystone Center in Brandon, MB.  Pick out your favorite colt and remember their number because these SWRHA eligible colts are offered for sale on Saturday, September 3rd at the Rocking W Horse Sale, also at the Keystone Center, Brandon MB.

Here is a great chance to purchase yourself a SWRHA eligible colt that is riding well, and already has some show experience!

ROCKING W HORSE SALES

Picture
The Rocking W Horse Sales are an integral part of the SWRHA.  Our Hagan Valley Ranch 60 Day Challenge selections take place during the Spring Sale with the competition and sale of these colts at the Fall Sale.  As well, the only way to make eligible for competition, a horse aged three and over is to nominate, sell and buy back the horse through a Rocking W Sale.  Please visit the PROSPECT NOMINATIONS & ELIGIBILITY page for more details.  Please visit the Rocking W website for addition details of their sale.
